Chief Executive Officer

Kyle Longton serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice President of the American Foreign Service Protective Association (AFSPA). In this role, he provides strategic direction and executive leadership to all of AFSPA’s programs including the Foreign Service Benefit Plan, AFSPA’s health plan administered under contract with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. The plan provides coverage to more than 100,000 members around the world and processes claims exceeding $600 million each year. In addition, Kyle provides executive management of AFSPA’s ancillary insurance programs, offering dental, life, disability, and critical illness coverage to AFSPA’s members, as well as AFSPA’s professional services partnerships.   

Kyle also serves as the Executive Director of the Senior Living Foundation (SLF) of the American Foreign Service. In this role, he facilitates educational opportunities and manages more than $600,000 each year in grants to elderly members of the Foreign Service community with demonstrated needs.  

With more than a decade of experience in the Federal space, Kyle has participated in panel discussions for events sponsored by the Department of State, Conference Board, Hinge Health, and Teladoc Health, among others. He is a passionate advocate for access to the latest advances in health care and virtual solutions for Federal employees, annuitants, and their families around the world, and he serves on the volunteer advisory board for both Hinge Health and Teladoc Health.

Kyle holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies from Centre College of Kentucky and a Master of International Affairs degree from George Washington University. He is a Certified Association Executive (CAE), as designated by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), and a Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC), as designated by the National Association of Benefits and Insurance Professionals (NABIP). The Foreign Service Institute has recognized Kyle for his expertise in Federal health benefits.

Twanisha Johnson serves as the Chief Operating Officer of the American Foreign Service Protective Association (AFSPA). In this role, Twanisha directs the daily operations of the organization to include creating and enhancing organizational policies, cultivating and managing partner relationships and providing  strategic oversight of various functional areas of the business including Outreach & Communication, Human Resources and IT. She also serves as Foundation Liaison for the Senior Living Foundation (SLF) of the American Foreign Service, AFSPA’s 501c3 entity.

Twanisha is a mission-driven management professional with several years of experience in the association sector and holds a Master of Science in Administration degree in Organizational Management from Trinity Washington University.

Before joining AFSPA in 2018, Twanisha worked for a diverse range of education and health organizations, including the Society for Consumer Affairs Professionals (SOCAP), the American Society of Association Executives and the YWCA National Capital Area where she established and managed innovative programming and set guidelines and measurable outcomes to foster sustainable and impactful organizations.  

Twanisha has an infectious optimism as well as a passion for strategic development, instituting and implementing effective systems for optimal growth and delivering value to association members.
