Critical Illness Insurance Can Help Your Financial Future

It’s not luck….it’s preparation

A line often quoted from the movie Titanic states that “a real man makes his own luck.” Well, be it man or woman, we all know that while we can’t possibly anticipate all of life’s surprises, we can take steps to mitigate their effects.

A serious illness can really impact your financial future. It’s shocking to learn that 63% of Americans have used up most or all of their savings to pay for medical bills.[1]  In addition, many may significantly cut back on necessary living expenses such as purchasing groceries, in order to pay medical bills.

But as a member of the American Foreign Service Protective Association (AFSPA) you can take an important step toward helping protect your financial wellness if diagnosed with a critical condition.*

AFSPA’s new Critical Illness (CI) Insurance,**launching July 1, 2021 and issued by The Prudential Insurance Company of America (Prudential), makes it easier to cover out-of-pocket medical and non-medical expenses, so you’ll have less financial stress while recovering.

With a lump sum payment to use however needed, Critical Illness Insurance can fill the financial gaps or income shortfalls for personal expenses such as mortgage, rent, utility and car payments, and child-care costs.

Critical Illness Insurance can also supplement insurance provided by the Foreign Service Benefit Plan (FSBP), long-term care insurance, disability insurance, or other medical insurance.

As a member of AFSPA you have access to exclusive benefits that are vetted specifically for you and offered at competitive rates. LEARN MORE or download the AFSPA Talks podcast episode on June 28th when we’ll be discussing Critical Illness Insurance.
