It’s been a long year. We’ve been stuck inside, discouraged from traveling, and staring at the same scenery for, frankly, too long. Now that people are getting vaccinated, it’s time to start exploring again, to begin adventuring, to reach new places and seek new heights. However, safety is still a top priority while traveling. Here are some tips for staying safe while getting ready to travel.  

According to the CDC, fully vaccinated travelers should still follow its travel recommendations:  

• Wear a mask  

• Stay six feet from others and avoid crowds 
• Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer  

After traveling you should self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms; isolate and get tested if you develop symptoms [1]. You should also follow all state and local recommendations or requirements if traveling domestically [1].  

If you’re fully vaccinated and traveling internationally, the CDC recommends following the above guidelines and more:  

• Get tested 3-5 days after travel  

• You do NOT need to get tested before leaving the United States unless your destination requires it  
• You do NOT need to self-quarantine after arriving in the United States 
• Make sure you understand and follow all airline and destination requirements related to travel, testing, or quarantine. You can check the current travel recommendations for your destination here  
• All air passengers coming to the United States, including U.S. citizens and fully vaccinated people, are required to have a negative COVID-19 test result no more than three days before travel or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 in the past three months before they board a flight to the United States.
