The American Foreign Service Protective Association (AFSPA) has been devoted to providing a comprehensive set of health insurance benefits and other services tailored to the unique needs of the Foreign Service and other Executive Branch employees. Becoming an AFSPA member is free! Additionally, there are no membership dues or fees. As a member of AFSPA, you can enroll in one of the following plans; Health, Dental, Life & A&D, Disability, Members of Household Insurance, Travel Insurance, Discount Care Programs, and/or professional services. Foreign Service Benefit Plan (FSBP)
FSBP is a fee-for-service Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) plan. Our members have the privilege of enjoying comprehensive medical coverage, including in-and-of-network benefits, wellness programs, mental health support, and more.
Wellness Programs
FSBP offers preventive and care management health and wellness programs to help reach your wellness goals.
FSBP Wellness Rewards Program: Members 18 years or older have access to our Simple Steps Living Well Together Program and can earn monetary rewards in wellness incentives per calendar year. Members can complete tasks including getting a:

FSBP includes generous benefits that help make your everyday life better. Members have access to 50 visits per year for each type of visit and can be reimbursed for up to $75 per visit.
AFSPA’s Ancillary Insurance Programs
AFSPA members have access to exclusive insurance plans and professional services, with the option to enroll anytime, including:
Dental: AFSPA offers four dental plans, which all provide coverage for dependents up to age 26. Our dental coverage includes Dominion National Elite Plus ePPO, Cigna Dental DPO, Cigna HMO, and Cigna International.
Life Insurance: AFSPA offers four comprehensive life insurance plans to help ensure your family has the resources to carry on. We offer Group Enhanced Life (GEL), Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D), Immediate Plan Benefit (IPB), and Senior Term Life. Members can enroll anytime.
Critical Illness Insurance: Members can enroll anytime in Critical Illness Insurance which provides a lump sum benefit for day-to-day living expenses that are not covered by insurance.
Members of Household Insurance: These plans are ideal for those family and friends not eligible under FEHB Program and to U.S. citizens spending extensive time with you overseas or foreign nationals needing healthcare coverage while residing with you in the U.S., or while traveling outside their home country. The plans are Global Medical Insurance (choose from five plans), Patriot Travel Series, and GlobeHopper Senior.
Travel Insurance: Members have access to travel insurance that is designed to ensure peace of mind that comes with being protected. Choose from four plans including Travel Assistance International, Travel Emergency Network, Wander Frequent Traveler, and RoundTrip International.
Discount Care Programs: AFSPA offers a three-in-one package discount plan that helps you save on dental, vision, and LASIK services.
Professional Services: Members who need assistance with legal, tax consulting, as well as financial and retirement planning have access to an array of experts.
