From the CEO - August 2025

Dear AFSPA Member,

August highlights key health awareness campaigns, including National Immunization Awareness Month. It is an ideal time to make sure you and your loved ones are current on vaccines. Additionally, don’t forget to update your contact information in our AFSPA Member Portal if you are transferring or undergoing a Permanent Change of Station (PCS). Let’s keep prioritizing our health so we can continue to Live Better: Feel Better.

National Immunization Awareness Month

This yearly observance emphasizes the importance of vaccination for people of all ages. It’s a good time to catch up on routine vaccines and well-child visits. Following the CDC’s recommended vaccine schedule gives your child the best protection against serious diseases. Unvaccinated children are more likely to contract diseases like measles and whooping cough. These diseases are highly contagious and can be very serious, especially for infants and young children.

The Foreign Service Benefit Plan (FSBP) covers annual physicals, well-child visits, and routine immunizations, as well as travel immunizations recommended by the CDC, at 100% when received from a U.S. in-network or overseas provider. FSBP members aged 18 and older can earn $100 in wellness rewards after completing their annual exam and biometric screening. Learn more about FSBP’s wellness rewards program here.

AAAHC Notice of Public Survey

FBSP is pursuing reaccreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC). This Notice of Health Plan Survey informs you that AAAHC will conduct FSBP’s comprehensive onsite Reaccreditation Survey from August 20-22, 2025. The purpose of the notice is to give health plan members, staff, and network providers a chance to share information about the Plan’s healthcare services and/or its compliance with AAAHC standards with AAAHC staff or the survey team.

FSBP participates in a thorough, on-site survey by AAAHC surveyors every three years. Pursuing accreditation demonstrates our dedication to delivering quality care and maintaining high standards in business practices.

PCS’ing? Update Your Address in Our System

Summer is the Transfer/Permanent Change of Station (PCS) season. As you prepare to leave one post for another, please take a few minutes to update your mailing address, telephone number, and email address in our system. We recommend using a non-government email to ensure we can reach you. Your employment agency/retirement office does not notify us when you change your contact information with them. You can update this information in the AFSPA Member Portal.
