Government Executive Recognizes FSBP

The Foreign Service Benefit Plan was featured in a recent Government Executive article for being one of only four Federal Employee Health Benefits plans to provide Artificial Reproductive Technology benefits that exceed Office of Personnel Management requirements.

A notable change in the OPM carrier call letter, released earlier this month, was the 2024 requirement for FEHB plans to cover ART procedures. These include methods such as artificial insemination, drugs associated with artificial insemination procedures and the cost of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)-related drugs. This differs from the current requirement for plans to cover the diagnosis and treatment of infertility, but not ART.

Although ART coverage will be a requirement in 2024, OPM recommended this for the 2023 benefit year. FSBP was one of only four FEHB plans to adopt ART coverage in 2023 despite it not being mandated.

In addition to ART coverage, FSBP is also known for its access to fertility advocates, healthy pregnancy rewards program and coverage for doula services. Visit FSBP’s New for 2023 web page to learn more about these benefits
