The Department of State (DOS) has approved an Authorized Departure from foreign areas to include Department of Defense (DoD) civilian employees — and/or other eligible family members (EFMs) who may need to accompany them – who have determined they are at higher risk of a poor outcome if exposed to Coronavirus (COVID-19). More information, including a PDF of the official memo is available to view here.
The designated safe-haven for departing DoD civilian employees is the United States. The United States consists of the 50 states and the District of Columbia. This is a change from the prior designated safe haven of Arlington, Virginia.
AFSPA and our partners collaborated to support FSBP members who decide to evacuate. If you have a scheduled, prescription home delivery, you can log into your account on Express Scripts’ website and redirect the shipment to a new, temporary address. Maintenance medications may be obtained in up to a 90-day supply from participating Smart90 pharmacies, through home delivery at www.express-scripts.com or by calling Express Scripts customer service: 800-818-6717.
Overseas members requiring prescription support should contact Express Scripts’ dedicated Expat Team via email at ExpatriateProcessingGEN@express-scripts.com or by phone 877-846-3630. Please include your member ID and/or date of birth when contacting the Expat Team to ensure timelier service.
Additionally, until further notice, FSBP will continue to offer telehealth and telemedicine consultations at no cost to members. These virtual medical visits are useful in the event your doctor’s office is closed due to social distancing or you are simply not in proximity of your regular, medical professional. Please remember all consultations should be performed using a HIPAA-compliant platform.
And last but not least, visit AFSPA’s Coronavirus webpage for complete FSBP-related, COVID-19 information and updates.
