Happy Spring! During this season of new beginnings and reflection, I feel privileged to play a role in serving more than 90,000 of our members every day. Thank you to all who continue to choose AFSPA and its programs. 

Government Executive Recognizes FSBP

The Foreign Service Benefit Plan was featured in a recent Government Executive article for being one of only four Federal Employee Health Benefits plans to provide Artificial Reproductive Technology benefits that exceed Office of Personnel Management requirements.

Spring is officially around the corner, and we are kicking off the beginning of the new season with our AFSPA Annual Member Meeting on Friday, March 3 at 11:00 am ET. All AFSPA members are welcome to attend this hybrid event. A live webinar of the meeting will be available, so you can join us from wherever you are. If you haven’t already, there is still time to register for the Annual Meeting. We look forward to seeing you there as we go over AFSPA’s 2023 initiatives.

Welcome to the month of February, the shortest month of the year, but a month packed with celebrations of love and kindness. Love for one another, but most importantly, love for ourselves. This month let’s focus on the importance of self-care and spreading kindness to others. 

FSBP 1095-B Tax Document for 2022

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) 1095-B tax document for members enrolled in the Foreign Service Benefit Plan (FSBP) in 2022 will be available by mid-February. This document can be requested when logging in to your account in the AFSPA Member Portal.

Our direct billing arrangement with MedPark Hospital covers inpatient*, accidental injury*, complete maternity care*, routine annual physical exam* and all covered outpatient medical services**.

Happy New Year! I want to give a special welcome to our new enrollees who chose the Foreign Service Benefit Plan (FSBP), or one or more of our Ancillary Insurance Programs (AIP) during Open Season. And a warm thank you to our 35,000 plus members who continue to put their trust in us each year. We truly value your membership and look forward to serving you in 2023.

As the days get shorter and the weather gets colder, we continue to see respiratory viruses, including influenza (the flu), COVID-19, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus Infection (RSV), spreading rapidly across the country. I strongly urge you to get your flu shot and COVID-19 booster shot. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends everyone age six months and older receive the flu vaccine. If you are due for a COVID-19 booster, it is safe to get both the flu shot and the COVID-19 booster shots together.

I invite you to also explore AFSPA’s member-exclusive Ancillary Insurance Programs (AIP) like dental, life, critical illness, and disability insurances to consider adding to your health portfolio next year.
